Kim Kalajainen
Kim brings over 25 years of executive-level leadership and financial acumen to public service. With a career spent in top-tier healthcare administration, including roles as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Operations at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, and later as President of Saint Mary’s Hospital, Kim has been directly responsible for managing multi-million-dollar operating and capital budgets, implementing strategic expense reduction measures, and ensuring organizational efficiency. Currently her talents are being put to continued good use as Chief Operating Officer at the Child & Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut.
The expertise Kim offers is further complemented by practical experience on the Inland Wetlands, Zoning, and Board of Assessment Appeals Committees, giving her insight into municipal governance as well.
Kim is prepared to leverage her extensive background in fiscal stewardship and operational effectiveness to help East Lyme adopt responsible, balanced budgets and ensure the town remains a financially stable and thriving community for all residents. Kim has been a member of our East Lyme community since 2006, and lives in Flanders with her family.
Barry Sheckley
As a 19-year East Lyme resident and U.S. Air Force veteran (1st Lt.), Barry’s deep commitment to the town is already demonstrated by his service on the Charter Revision, Capital Improvements, and Board of Education Committees. In these roles, Barry forged a proven record snd recognized insistence of demanding fiscal accountability and transparency.
Professionally, Barry is a UConn Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Department of Educational Leadership in the Neag School of Education. A prominent feature of his distinguished career included financial strategizing in government for major organizations. By virtue of this, Barry brings unparalleled expertise in ensuring every tax dollar delivers documented public benefit.
Barry will apply his noted rigorous, evidence-based approach to safeguard East Lyme’s financial future, promote long-term stability, and maintain the vital services that preserve our community’s quality of life for his grandchildren and all residents.
