Cathy Yuhas
Cathy Yuhas has spent the past two years serving as an alternate on the Zoning Board, where she has demonstrated a thoughtful and collaborative approach to decision-making. Now, she is seeking a full seat to continue that service.
A long-time public involvement advocate, Cathy seeks to ensure that planning and development decisions reflect the voices & values of East Lyme residents. She aims to protect our town’s natural resources, preserve its character, and to guide growth in a way that strengthens our sense of community. As an end-of life-care practitioner and advocate, retired nurse, author, and music publisher, community connectedness has always been a deep value of Cathy’s.
Cathy will bring to her Zoning work continued dedication, integrity, and a genuine desire to listen and learn from her neighbors. Her perspective and commitment to transparency will support balanced, open, forward-looking decisions that honor East Lyme’s heritage and plans responsibly for its future.
Kerry Edwards
For Board Alternate
Kerry Edwards, a lifelong Niantic resident, is running for Zoning Board Alternate to help ensure East Lyme grows with balance and care. With 25 years as an elementary school teacher in Waterford, and an advanced degree in Educational Leadership, Kerry has spent her career listening, guiding, and making thoughtful, inclusive decisions in community settings—skills she will bring to Zoning.
Kerry believes East Lyme’s charm and character must be preserved at the same time as welcoming sensible, forward-looking development. She is committed to smart, sustainable growth, protecting our natural environment, and ensuring that Zoning decisions follow all standards and reflect the values of residents.
As one deeply rooted in the community, Kerry combines dedication, communication, practical experience, and a genuine love for East Lyme. She will be a steady voice for residents, protecting what makes our town special while preparing for the future.
Sarah Susco
For Board Alternate
Sarah Susco, is a 12-year East Lyme resident seeking to continue her service as an Zoning Board Alternate. With 15 years of experience in Human Resources, and holding a Master’s in Labor Relations, Sarah brings skills in mediation, interpreting regulations, and fostering fair outcomes—essential qualities for the Zoning Board.
Beyond her professional expertise, Sarah has a long record of community involvement, from serving as Treasurer for the Lillie B. Haynes Elementary School PTA, and her Home Owners Association (HOA) — to teaching classes to DCF foster and adoptive parents, and volunteering at the New London Community Meal Center.
Sarah is committed to balanced growth that protects East Lyme’s character while ensuring residents’ voices are heard. She looks forward to continuing her work on behalf of the community she and her family proudly call home.
